If you have inherited a property or money in Spain, inheritance tax is usually the first question. At Tomas Ballestero Lawyers we do not treat it as a separate tax query: we handle the whole Spanish inheritance for you, and the tax is part of that work.

What we do for you:

Deadlines matter. Spanish inheritance tax must be filed within six months of the date of death. An extension can be requested, but only during the first five months. Filing late means surcharges.

How much you pay depends on where the deceased lived, where the assets are and your relationship to the deceased. In the Valencian Community close family can benefit from significant regional reductions. We check which rules apply to you as part of the inheritance.

Most of the process can be done by power of attorney, without travelling to Spain.
